Dr. David R. Fairweather received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Ottawa in 1996. Over the course of his graduate studies, he published a number of papers in the area of psychotherapy process research. His doctoral thesis, which focused on how exemplary, distinguished therapists facilitate positive client changes in psychotherapy sessions, was nominated for the Governor General’s Award, as well as a National Distinguished Dissertation Award.

From 1996-2006, he was a psychologist and supervising psychologist within the correctional system, and focused extensively on parole assessments as well as conducting psychotherapy and research surrounding offenders and trauma populations. As part of this prior experience, he was also qualified as an expert witness in various areas including Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Psychological Assessment, and Risk Assessment.

As co-founder and co-director of Campbell & Fairweather Psychology Group, Dr. Fairweather has maintained a private practice on Vancouver Island since 1998.  He has broad experience in areas including posttraumatic stress disorder, other trauma and stressor-related disorders, marital/couple and family therapy, depression, anxiety, vocational/career issues, and also has specialized in forensic assessment. With his main focus now being on psychological assessment, Dr. Fairweather works predominantly in the area of work injuries, as well as with police and law enforcement agencies, and also with military members and veterans.
