Dr. Heather Baitz is a Registered Psychologist with expertise in a range of evidence-based treatment approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and specialized variants such as exposure and response prevention (ERP), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based CBT, along with motivational interviewing and solution-focused interventions. Her primary focus is on providing therapy to adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, problematic substance use, climate distress, or a combination of those concerns. Her approach is centred around the perspective that each person is truly doing their best with the skills and resources they have available, and she strives to approach all relationships with genuine openness, curiosity, and respect. She emphasizes collaboration and a focus on personal strengths throughout treatment. She welcomes opportunities to work with individuals of all abilities, cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities.

Dr. Baitz completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Systems at the University of British Columbia before going on to complete her Master’s degree and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Simon Fraser University. She completed a one-year residency at the University of Manitoba in the Department of Clinical Health Psychology. She has previously worked at the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic and at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addiction.

Dr. Baitz has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles related to substance use, cognition, and mental health. She is a Clinical Instructor in the UBC Department of Psychiatry, and has been involved in training medical students, psychiatry residents, and psychology trainees at all levels.
