Dr. Kevin Miller obtained his doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Surrey, UK. His doctoral research focused on investigating the role of psychological mindedness in addiction treatment, and outcome monitoring for addiction intervention. After working for several years as a Chartered Psychologist in the UK National Health Service he moved to Canada. Here he has worked as a Registered Psychologist in both Adult Mental Health and Youth Addiction settings.
As well as being a registered psychologist in B.C., Dr. Miller is also a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (UK), a member of the BC Psychological Association, and a qualified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with the SE Trauma Institute Colorado.
He has experience working with youth, adults, couples and groups dealing with a wide range of emotional, behavioural, cognitive and social issues. He holds a special interest in working therapeutically with trauma and its effects; including emotional dysregulation, and also focuses on clinical issues such as addiction, relationship conflict, family dysfunction and chronic pain.
He has a passion for drawing from various therapeutic approaches to best meet the needs of the client, including cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, humanistic, somatic, mindfulness as well as EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). He places a particular emphasis on mind-body attunement theoretical principles as a means to work therapeutically with trauma, and to facilitate neurological and functional healing. As the founder of this approach (Mind-Body Attunement Therapy ©), Dr. Miller has also taught this method to numerous professionals and university students.
